Parenthood by its very nature comes with its fair share of worries and woes, but apparently the number of children you have can be correlated with your happiness in life.

It might sound a bit strange, but this is the claim of a new Australian study, carried out by a team of experts at the Edith Cowan University.

According to the study findings, parents of four or more children have the most life satisfaction.

As part of the study, lead researcher Dr Bronwyn Harman carried out interviews with hundreds of parents – with varying family sizes – over the course of five years.

The results showed that those with larger families – specifically consisting of four or more children – showed more resilience and higher self-esteem, and appeared more satisfied with their lives overall.

Sharing her observations from the study, Dr Harman said: “What is important for kids are things like consistency, boundaries and to know that they are loved, no matter what.”

What do you think of the study results? Do you agree with the findings?
