There have been some alarming reports of attempted abductions around the country in recent times, and this latest story is enough to send chills down your spine.

Sources this weekend claim that gardaí have arrested a suspected child abductor, who was allegedly caught trying to take children from various crèches.

The as yet unnamed woman had reportedly been visiting nurseries in the South Dublin area, pretending to be a relative of the children.

The alarming incidents were confirmed by Ireland’s family and child agency, Túsla, with an official report describing how “an unauthorised female attempted to remove a child from a few services” within the area.

While the Irish Mirror reported this morning that the woman has been arrested and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, parents and those in positions of care have been asked to remain vigilant.

Commenting on the incidents leading up to the alleged arrest, an inside source told the publication: “This woman had been acting erratically around particular childcare facilities. It is my belief that she managed to obtain one child before a mother recognised the child wasn’t hers. The authorities were then called.”
