The Rotunda: Baby gets blood transfusion while still in the womb in tonights episode

The Rotunda continues tonight with amazing footage of a baby getting a blood transfusion while still in the womb.

Tonight’s episode is full of moving and eye-opening stories that are bound to leave you feeling emotional.

ICU nurse Ellie is 31 weeks pregnant and her baby has Rhesus disease. The Master of the Rotunda Fergal Malone is looking after her and performs a blood transfusion through the umbilical cord to help the baby.

We will also meet expectant mum Laura, who has some very clear ideas about what she wants for the delivery of her baby at the Rotunda.

‘True blue Dub’ Sarah takes the chance for the first time on a man from outside Dublin; Kilkenny man Darragh, as they enter the Rotunda for the birth of their first child.

Parents Emma and Martin also return for a milestone check-up with their baby Nathan who was born at just 25 weeks gestation under a year ago.

We have been loving each and every episode of The Rotunda this season. The stories have been both heartbreaking and uplifting. Each episode has given us an insight into the busiest maternity hospital in Europe.
