Most of us know what it's like to discover our child has accidentally caused damage to someone else's property.

No matter how often we advise them to be careful or urge them to be cautious, accidents happen and if we're very lucky those on the receiving end are gracious in their response and reaction.

So we can only imagine how thrilled this parent was when she received an invoice from her neighbours after her 3-year-old son accidentally damaged their car.

Taking to Facebook to explain the situation, the mum wrote: "My silly three-year-old accidentally hit a neighbour's car last week when opening his door."

Going on to explain her reaction to the incident, she wrote: "We admitted it at the time and told the owner we'd pay for the repair. (Cheaper than going through insurance.)"

Eager to rectify the situation, the mum kept in touch with her neighbours, writing: "Chased him up today and got this invoice."

Sharing a snap of the invoice provided by the owners of the car, Facebook users quickly learned the severity of the damage, with the invoice reading: "Damage repair and respray: £1,500. Damage repair and respray VAT: £1,300. Numerous cups of tea while pondering repair £28.00. Numerous packets of biscuits while pondering repair £10.00."

The final itemised detail on the bill, however, read: " These things happen...minus...£1,838."

Waving a repayment, the kindly neighbours simply requested the mum at the centre of this heartwarming case take care of their post the next time they're away.

We adore stories of this nature!
