While most of us hope our children will aspire to greatness, one enthusiastic couple from Brooklyn have gone that extra mile to inspire their little girl.

In a bid to educate their daughter and open her eyes to the incredible achievements held by women and girls in history, Marc and Janine have recreated famous shots of iconic women with the help of their little girl, Lily.

Explaining the motivation behind their project, Marc, who makes a living as a photographer, said: "We started this photo series as a way to teach Lily about history and these heroines in a fun and creative way."

Five-year-old Lily was given the opportunity to channel her inner Nina Simone, Mae Jemison and Mala Yousafzai to name but a few during her parents' inspirational endeavour.

Explaining why the project held such weight, Marc went on to say: "I wanted Lily to be able to identify with them and in turn, build her sense of self-worth. I wanted her to be able to see herself as a future heroine."

Paying tribute to women they felt warranted inclusion in the project, Lily's dad continued; "We didn’t want to only cover the usual picks but also wanted to include some unexpected women that were trailblazers in their own right."

According to the doting dad, this particular photographic project has a far-reaching effect, saying: "I feel that we might be succeeding in this as well as teaching, inspiring and uplifting everyone from little girls to grown ups along the way, myself included. This makes me very happy and fuels my fire!"

By allowing Lily to emulate these inspirational women, her parents hope to show their little girl that courage, strength. talent and determination come in all shapes and sizes.

This is yet another project created by doting parents which reminds children of their endless capabilities.
