THIS is why Idris Elbas daughter is embarrassed of her dad

Every year, PEOPLE magazine announce the official title of 'Sexiest Man Alive', but most kids cannot imagine that their dad would gain the accolade.

We can imagine that the awkwardness must be tangible in the Elba household, seeing as Idris has a daughter who is a reader of the US publication.

For sixteen-year-old Isan Elba, this occurrence rang true, and she has now revealed her sense of embarrassment at the news.

While speaking to PEOPLE about how she discovered the award, Isan said “Actually, I was on Instagram. PEOPLE said, ‘Oh, we’re announcing the Sexiest Man Alive,’ and I was like, ‘Oh yes, can’t wait.’"

Her excitement dwindled when she realised that it was in fact her famous father, Idris Elba, who had been named this year's Sexiest Man Alive.

Speaking to the press at an event, Isan joked that: “I wake up in the morning and it’s my dad. I was like, ‘This is not what I was expecting. This is not very fun,"

“When I called him the day after, not even about it, he was like, ‘Do you have anything to say to me?’ And I said, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ Then he said, ‘I’m the Sexiest Man Alive.’ I was like, ‘Oh, yeah. That. That thing. Uh, okay, cool. You’re welcome,’” Isan divulged.

“It’s definitely a topic around school, so I’m the one being teased about it,” she said, after she was asked whether she has any plans to tease her dad about his latest title.

However, she maintained that the teasing was meant “in a nice way,” adding light-heartedly that: “It’s a joking kind of way, but it gets awkward sometimes.”

It must be strange having a movie star as a father, especially when the world can't seem to get enough of him.

However, the 46-year-old actor. who became a break-out star following his performance in The Wire, isn’t the only Elba being awarded these days.

On Wednesday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) named Isan the 2019 Golden Globes Ambassador.

Will she follow in her father's footsteps and join the entertainment industry? Only time will tell, but she seems well able for the role.
