Mary Thomaston faced huge backlash after she shared images of her daughter on social media getting major hairstyle change.
The six-year-old had apparently been pestering her hairdresser mum for months to do something to her hair and when Mary revealed the results, some were not impressed at all.
“This kid... so damn cool. All her own idea. She’s been asking for this for a while. I finally gave in,” said the mum on Instagram.
Mary rocks some pretty unique hair colours herself and it seems Lyra was inspired and wanted to have her own individual look.
“I told her if the school gives us permission then I’ll do it, and they allowed it.”
“Don’t worry folks, it’ll wash out,” the mum reassured her followers however, some were harder to convince.
"You could be doing unknown damage to the health and development of that very young child" said one follower.
Mary assured followers she used non-toxic temporary dyes to achieve her daughter’s unicorn look.
“She wasn’t harmed in the process. Just putting that out there since some people seem to be having a hard time with me colouring my child’s hair.”
