Minister Leo Varadkar has shared a video to promote the scheme for new dads.

 

The Paternity Benefit scheme with be launched next month and means that dads can take two weeks leave from work if they are having or adopting a baby.

 

The scheme also means employed or self-employed fathers will receive a minimum €230 per week when it is introduced on September 1st.

 

Dads will need to have a public service card and inform employers at least four weeks before they intend to take leave.
