We all know what it's like when our kids are locked in on their phones. They just can't look up from the screen's hypnotic blue glow, even to chat with their absolutely wonderful parents!

It seems that even celebs can't compete with mobile phones. Peter Andre shared a hilarious video on Instagram of himself and 12-year-old Junior in the car, with his son focused on his phone.

"You know son, I'm glad we get this time together," the 'Mysterious Girl' singer says to his son at the beginning of the clip.

"Yeah?" Junior responds noncommittally. And the rest from there... well, trying to talk to a teen on their phone is like trying to talk to a brick wall.

Good chat son.

"Good chat son," the father-of-four jokes at the end of the video.

Yep... we've all been there. Peter's fans on Instagram couldn't help but relate to Peter's plight.

A follower commented, "Oh, it's good to know that every parent goes through this!"

"I have a daughter the same age as Junior. Completely relate to this!" another shared.

"Every parent's struggle in today’s society," one person said.

Children really are drawn to the screen. A UK survey last year found that 84 percent of children say their favourite activity is playing on a games console or going online.

Peter himself has been very open in the past about his distaste for social media and overuse of phones.

He and ex Katie Price, mother of his oldest children Junior and 10-year-old Princess, definitely differ in that department.

The mum allowed the two children to have their own Instagram accounts, despite them being under Instagram's minimum age requirement of 13.

"Everyone knows I don't allow them to have phones or social media at my house, but I guess it doesn't necessarily mean to say I'm right," Peter wrote in a New! magazine column.

“I don't like kids having them because I think it opens them up to all sorts of issues, but as a parent, you have to compromise with the other parent and try to work together."

Do you ever struggle to get your kids to look up from their screens, mums?
