It has been a week of very upsetting news, particularly after the Gardaí’s rescue of a six-year-old abuse victim yesterday, and we have yet another sad report this morning.

Three young Irish-born children are to be brought home and placed in care after being abandoned by their parents in England, the High Court has been told.

An application was made in court this week by the Child and Family Agency (CFA), with representing barrister Felix McEnroy SC explaining the children’s situation to Ms Justice Carmel Stewart.

The children were reportedly brought to England in 2013 by their parents, after the family came under perceived threat. The court was informed that the children’s father had been involved in criminal activity in Ireland.

Describing the children’s family situation as ‘chaotic’, representatives also disclosed that the parents suffered from a number of personal problems including substance abuse.

The family did return to Ireland together, but the children were brought back to England and placed in care last year. Once there, the children’s parents went back to Ireland without them, and authorities have been unable to locate them.

The case will be considered again in the High Court later this month, and we will keep you update on its progress.
