Reports are just in of a house fire which has tragically killed a man, woman and child in the early hours of this morning.

The blaze which happened at a property in North Street in Langley Mill, Derbyshire occurred around 4am this morning, and emergency services rushed to the scene.

According to the Derby Telegraph, neighbours clambered to rescue the family, with one man saying: "There were about 20 of us fetching ladders to reach the floors and we managed to get some people out."

Sadly, a police spokesman has confirmed that three people – a man, woman and female child – have died in the blaze, of which the cause is still unknown.

Neighbouring properties have been evacuated as the fire, which badly damaged the house and a parked car, caused a gas leak.

Watch manager at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue took to Twitter this morning to pass on his thoughts to all those involved:

Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time.
