Tuesdays are usually pretty laboursome. While we’re over the Monday slump, we still have a long way until the weekend.
However, today is not your standard Tuesday.
Today, we celebrate the day of pancakes – or something like that.
While you might be dreading the thought of making up dozens of pancakes for your greedy bunch tonight, there are some valid reasons why Pancake Tuesday is the best.
Here are 10 of them.
1. Kitchen bonding
Racing home from school, the kids will be so eager for some sugary goodness, they’ll hover around you while you cook.
2. Get silly
Pancakes are a great way to get creative in the kitchen. No doubt you’ll all be laughing, making the funniest pancake faces you can – even if there is a little mess afterwards.
3. No judgement
What other day of the year do you get to have a stack of pancakes with Nutella, maple syrup AND sugar drizzled all over, without anyone saying a thing?
4. Quick and easy
There are few desserts that are so simple to make - which means you get all the praise for being a culinary genius, without actually having any Mary Berry-level skills.
5. Smaller dinners
While you may be annoyed that you have two courses to deal with, the promise of a big dessert means dinner doesn’t have to be so big. Therefore, less time, less effort and yet another reason as to why today is the best.
6. No dinner at all
You also get a free pass to skip dinner altogether. If you can’t do without your main meal, why not have one plate of savoury pancakes before you enjoy the sugar rush?
7. Social media game = strong
Put the effort into decorating those pancakes, and be rewarded with all the likes your lovely Instagram post will get. Shallow, yes. Satisfying, HELL YES!
8. You get to eat the leftovers
If there is one certainty when it comes to our children, it’s that their eyes are bigger than their stomachs. Which is a BIG win for us.
