A two-year-old girl has died and two older children injured following a car accident in Dorset, England, last night.
The incident, in which a car containing five passengers smashed into a wall and flipped onto its roof, occurred yesterday evening.
An eight-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were taken to hospital for treatment, though police have said their injuries are "not thought to be serious."
Police have confirmed that the toddler's next of kin have been informed of her death.
Police were called to the scene of the "serious road traffic collision" at 9.20pm last night. Dorset police later confirmed that a blue MG car carrying five people had left the road and collided with a wall. Locals say the stretch of road on which the collision occurred has been the scene of a number of accidents in recent years.
The driver of the car, a 28-year-old male from the Wimborne area of Dorset, was arrested on suspicion of "driving offences" and is currently being questioned by police. He and the other adult passenger, a 28-year-old female, were both treated for shock and minor injuries.
Speaking to reporters, Inspector Matt Butler of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said the crash was "a tragic incident" and that specially-trained family liaison officers were supporting the family at this difficult time.
