Our hearts go out to a family in New Zealand this week, after their 17-month-old little boy was left with ‘critical injuries’ following an accident involving toppling furniture.

Little Daniel Milliken reportedly attempted to climb up a set of drawers with a TV on top of them on Tuesday, when the accident occurred. The furniture went toppling, with the TV landing on the child’s head. Daniel’s father was in the kitchen at the time of the accident, according to the tot’s older half-brother.

Michael Clarke, 20, told local news that Daniel was flown to hospital, where he was operated on by “the best team of neurosurgeons in New Zealand”. Surgeons are said to have removed part of Daniel’s brain, and Michael said that it could take anywhere from months to ‘a few years’ for the tot to fully recover.

“If all goes well he should recover with just a bit less advanced motor skills. He’s a very strong and loveable boy. It will take from six months up to a few years to recover with rehabilitation and therapy, if he recovers,” Michael added.

Our hearts go out to the family, and we’re praying for Daniel to make a full recovery.
