A touching tribute has been paid to father-of-three Aidan Lynam, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Co. Clare this weekend.

The 44-year-old passed away after his motorbike collided with a car during the ‘Rev-up4DSI’ charity event, an annual fundraiser which Mr Lynam helped set up for his daughter Robyn – who has Down syndrome – a decade ago.

In a fitting move, Mr Lynam’s body was escorted home by over 100 bikers, with a host of tributes flooding in after his sad passing.

Mr Lynam was well-known for his fundraising work, having helped to raise €1.6million for Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) over the past number of years. He worked as a fundraising co-ordinator with the organisation, and was also a motorcycling journalist.

Paying an emotional tribute to Mr Lynam and his phenomenal work, DSI boss Pat Clarke said: “I think over the next week we will actually find out how many people’s lives Aidan has touched over the past number of years.”

Praising Mr Lynam as a “phenomenal” father, Mr Clarke added: “Aidan will be sadly missed by everybody, both among his colleagues at Down Syndrome Ireland and in the broader community,”

This is incredibly sad news. Our hearts go out to Mr Lynam’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
