Our thoughts and prayers are with a family in Co. Galway this morning, following the terrible news that a toddler has died in a tragic driveway accident.
According to reports, the 21-month-old boy - named locally as Cillian O Cualáin - passed away after being struck by a vehicle in the driveway of his home in Clynagh, Carraroe yesterday afternoon.
Sources claim the gardaí and emergency services were called to the house shortly before 4pm on Wednesday, with the child then airlifted to University Hospital Galway for treatment. Sadly, medical staff were unable to save the toddler's life.
A post mortem is due to be carried out later today at the hospital, following an examination by forensic collision investigators.
The latest reports state that the incident is being treated as a most tragic accident.
