Police in Western Australia were so taken aback by the lack of regard a parent showed their child that they took to Twitter today to vent their fury.

Uploading an image of the driver's blood alcohol reading, the officers circled the offending figures and expressed outrage that an individual would not only drive while under the influence, but allow their child to accompany them on the journey.

Using the image as both a message to the individual at the centre of this incident as well as the wider public, they wrote: "Seriously!! With your child in the car, crash waiting to happen."

Appalled by the individual who was found to be three times over the limit during a random spot-check, officers concluded the post by hashtagging the words 'fatality prevented' and 'heads-up 2016'.

Unfortunately, this as not an isolated event, with officers taking to social media a few hours later to draw attention to a female driver who put not only her own life and that of fellow drivers' at risk, but her five-year-old child and unborn infant.

The pregnant driver, who was caught driving under the influence of drugs, had her results reading shared on Twitter, with officers writing: "Positive to Meth, with 5yo in car and 8 months pregnant. Not a good example."

The officers' tweets have been met with outrage by the wider public, with one social media user writing: "Disgusting! Sadly there's no criteria for having kids."

Paying tribute to the force, another Twitter user expressed gratitude for their endeavours, writing: "Seriously bad parenting. They should thank you for stopping a possible tragedy."

We couldn't agree more.
