Two people have died and five others are injured following a two-car collision in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford this morning.

 

According to the Irish Independent, the vehicles were travelling close to the Military Road, just after 9am when the accident occurred.

 

The two victims are believed to have been travelling together in one vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

 

 

The other five people, who are being treated for their injuries, are said to have been in the second vehicle; a People Carrier.

 

It is believed that children are among the injured.

 

Helicopters and ambulances arrived on the scene to transport the injured to Cork University Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. No statement regarding their condition has been released as of yet.

 

 

Gardaí are still on the scene, investigating. They have appealed to locals to avoid approaching the area at all costs.
