A little boy, who lost his parents and three of his siblings in a blaze which swept a halting site in Carrickmines last week, is set to be discharged from hospital tomorrow.

The tragedy, which stunned the nation and claimed the lives of ten people in the small Dublin community, signalled the greatest loss of life from a single fire since the Stardust nightclub blaze in 1981.

While mourners lined the streets during funerals today in order to pay their respect to victims of the fire which broke out on Glenamuck Road in the early hours of October 10th, four-year-old Thomas Connors prepared to leave hospital.

Thomas, whose 14-year-old brother John was released from hospital on October 12th and whose five-year-old brother, Michael, thankfully escaped the tragic blaze, is set to be housed in temporary accommodation over the course of the next two nights.

Despite protests, talks are continuing regarding the possibility of providing a temporary halting site in which to house the survivors of the fire.

Our thoughts are with Thomas and his two brothers this week.
