A teenager remains in a critical condition after an alleged assault by another pupil at his school.

13-year-old Oisín McGrath was rushed to hospital in Belfast after the incident which reportedly took place during a football game at lunchtime on Monday.

People attending a special mass held in St Patrick's Church in Holywell last night were incorrectly told that Oisín had passed away. Oisín's local GAA club, Belcoo O'Rahilly's, of which his mum Sharon is secretary, subsequently went on to release a statement of condolence.

However, in an update released this morning by the Belfast Health Trust, it was confirmed that Oisín remains in a "critical" condition in the intensive care unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

A 17-year-old boy who attends the same school as Oisín, St Michael’s College Enniskillen, was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident, and was later bailed pending further enquiries.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the McGrath family at this difficult time.
