We’re often warned about the dangers of wearing headphones while driving, cycling or walking across the road, and the following video offers an important reminder that we need to have our wits about us in these scenarios.

A video shared by Dash Cam Owners Australia has made waves online this week, after showing a car hitting a young woman who walked out in front of it, not realising it was approaching.

The footage, which is just under five seconds long, shows the woman crossing at a random point in the road - nowhere near traffic lights or a pedestrian crossing – while listening to headphones.

“Lesson to be learned here. Look both ways before crossing, and use traffic lights and crossings,” read the warning beneath the Facebook post.

Assuring viewers that the woman is doing fine, the caption added: “She is okay, a few scuffs here and there. [Ambulances] and police were on the scene and did a great job. Also, hats off to all the locals that helped out. This all happened on Plenty Road.”

As scary as it is, everyone – especially our kids and teens, who are constantly ‘plugged in’ to their phones – needs to watch this.

SHARE to remind everyone to be vigilant when it comes to road safety.
