While our memory of childbirth may be ever so slightly dulled by both time and the hormones released encouraging us to do it all again, we're fairly certain the labour process was the least glamorous moment of our lives.

From the hospital gown and stirrups to the bodily fluids and grunts, it's fair to say that childbirth is as far from glam as you can get...unless you're Alaha Majid, that is!

The make-up artist from New York reminded the public just how adept at multitasking a woman can be when she puts her mind to it by uploading shots of her own labour process to Instagram.

Taking her mind off the discomfort, Alaha can be seen using an expert touch on her own face as she awaited the arrival of her little one in February.

Setting the scene for Instagram users, Alaha wrote: "Yes, I was doing my makeup while I was in labour. I was pausing during contractions and picking up where I left off once the contractions passed."

Surrounded by make-up brushes, innumerable contour kits and several eye-shadow palettes, Alaha said she enlisted the help of her husband when required, writing: "When the contractions got too strong, hubby was there to save the day."

"Yes, I went full glam and did my makeup during labour," she wrote as she reflected on one of the most special days in any mother's life.

"And yes, I wore my mink lashes," she continued. "I had a natural birth so it was tough, but I'm lucky enough to have been able to experience it firsthand and am so grateful.."

Hey, WHATEVER it takes to get you through it, we support 100%!
