What is cradle cap?

Cradle cap (seborrhoeic dermatitis) is a rash that starts as scaling and redness on a baby’s scalp. It is a non infectious skin condition and is a form of eczema. Seborrhoeic dermatitis is common in infants, usually beginning in the first few weeks of life and slowly disappearing over a period of weeks or even several months. The condition is rarely uncomfortable or itchy.
