Travelling the world has topped the ‘wish-list’ for 39% of Irish Mums and Dads of things they most want to achieve before they die.
New research by laya life, Ireland’s newest life insurance provider, reveals visiting Disneyland with their kids is one of the most popular bucket list items for Irish parents. Travelling into space, climbing Mount Everest, swimming with sharks, learning to play the violin and mastering how to fly a plane featured among the more quirky life goals set by adventurous grown-ups.
Paying off the mortgage and dying debt-free (30%) rank high on the bucket list, as did securing income for retirement and providing for their children, with one in two (53%) parents currently holding some level of life insurance.

Ireland rugby star, Donncha O’Callaghan has lent his support to the launch of laya life. While Donncha has achieved incredible things in his career to date, the dad of three says his top goals are to bike across Route 66 and to take his family to Disneyland.
Donncha said, “Due to my training schedule and commitments to rugby over the years, we have never been on a proper family holiday - Jenny and I didn’t even have time for a honeymoon - so travel and a long overdue holiday is definitely on my bucket list.”
