Burglars are usually very, very clever individuals who know exactly what they are doing, and their processes are experimented and honed to perfection – which is why we need to be a step ahead of them, if we can.
We, accordingly, need to pay heed to the warnings coming from authorities in Bristol, UK this week, regarding the bizarre and mysterious discovery of white stones outside of certain houses in a local community.
According to The Bristol Post, home-owners in the Portishead area have been discovering piles of white stones outside of their homes; beside the wheels of cars, or in obvious areas where they would easily be disturbed by a home-owner.
The discoveries were made by a number of residents, who approached their local Neighbourhood Watch organisation to report. After investigating, they now believe that these stones were left there by would-be burglars, who are keeping track of which homes are not occupied at the time.
They reckon that the burglars are monitoring the stones; and if they are left undisturbed, it could be a sign that the home-owner is away. This could create a dangerous opportunity for the would-be thieves to break in and burgle the house.
Speaking to the local newspaper, head of the local Neighbourhood Watch, Nick Gough, said: “This alert should not cause you undue alarm but is a reminder to stay vigilant.
“There are reports of a male leaving white stones outside of various properties. These distinctive stones are believed to have been left outside of properties which look unoccupied. This includes being left under rear tyres of some cars, possibly to act as a test for homeowner activity at the address.”
While residents in the Portishead area have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the local authorities; the story serves as a warning to people everywhere. These tricks are picked up from one place, and before you know it, they’ve travelled all over the country and beyond.
