A woman, who has recently lost a mobile phone which contained photos and messages from her late husband, has appealed to the public for any information which may lead to its recovery.

The widow, known only as Anita, took to the Irish airwaves earlier today in the hopes her story will jog the memory of members of the public.

Speaking on Joe Duffy's Liveline, Anita recalled the moment she realised she had lost the cherished possession after a walk on Killiney Beach in South Dublin.

Speaking to the well-known broadcaster, Anita explained: "When I saw I lost it, I immediately called my son to ask for his help. We spent 45 minutes checking the car, and when we didn’t find it there, we tried to re-trace my steps from the beach."

Having unfortunately had no luck during her own search, Anita decided to enlist the help of radio listeners and explained the importance of the iPhone 4s.

With heartbreaking honesty, Anita said: "I know people lose phones everyday but this one is very precious to me. Since my husband died in October, these messages and photographs are like my last memories and moments with him."

Explaining what it would mean to be reunited with the phone, the heartbroken mum went on to say: "It would mean so much for me if I can get it back because it’s like the last bit of him is gone.If I got it back I could re-read messages or look at photographs. It would just be of enormous comfort to get it back."

Elaborating on the circumstances surrounding the phone's disappearance, Anita told the RTÉ host: "My only hope now is that my sister got a call from the phone at 5:03pm and my friend got a call from the phone at 6:04. Both of those people were out of the country and the package I was on doesn’t allow me to make international calls."

Appealing to the person or persons who may have her phone, Anita simply requested they contact a local Garda station, saying: "I know it’s a wild shot but I’m hoping the person who called my sister and friend is listening and will hear this. If they do, please get in touch with me or the Shankill or Dún Laoghaire Garda station."

Our fingers are crossed for Anita.
