Red Rover, Tag and Hopscotch are just some of the well-known children’s games that are still played by children around Ireland today - but what will be the next big thing?

Get in the Game is an exciting new competition launched by Super Troopers with laya healthcare, Ireland’s first ‘health homework’ programme. There are currently more than 60,000 children in over 300 schools taking part in the programme, but now is the time for all families and primary schools to get involved.

Get in the Game is asking kids to be imaginative, have some fun and create what could be the next iconic children’s playground game. There are two categories: one calling on schools and the other families. This new game doesn’t have to be complicated, just free and fun to play.

The winning family will receive a three night adventure holiday in the four-star Delphi Mountain Resort, located in the breath-taking Delphi Valley, Co. Galway. The prize includes breakfast on each morning of the stay and dinner on an evening of your choice, as well as access to the award-winning spa’s thermal suite for parents and two days of fun filled activity for the whole family. Activities include abseiling, zip-lining, archery, sea kayaking and snorkelling but to name a few.

For the schools category, €1,000 worth of sports equipment is up for grabs.  Not only will our winners receive these fantastic prizes but both of the winning games will be played for the very first time at the laya healthcare City Spectacular festival this July in Dublin 10th – 12th and Cork 18th and 19th.

To enter, simply record a short video outlining the name of your new game with a very brief explanation of how to play and upload it to the laya Facebook page. Your entry video only has to be a minute long and can be recorded on your smartphone.

Closing date for submissions is Sunday 21st June. All entries will be reviewed by a judging panel and three entries in each category will be shortlisted and announced on the laya healthcare Facebook page for public vote from Tuesday 30th June to Sunday 5th June.
