Nesting is when an expectant woman gets a burst of cleaning or organising close to their due date, although some can feel it earlier on in their pregnancy.

While it can often it can be an overwhelming feeling, it does have its benefits like a spotless, clean house or finally ticking off items on your to-do list!

Here are eight things you can do when you are nesting:

1. Get the important jobs done first

Freezing meals, getting Baby’s cot ready and stocking up on nappy essentials are must-do jobs so get these out of the way before you go anywhere near your need-to-do list!

2. Freeze meals

When Baby comes along you aren’t going to have much time or energy to cook meals so get ahead of yourself now and freeze them.

3. Clean your car

For a lot of new parents the first place the baby goes when they leave the hospital is into the car, so make sure yours is spick and span.

4. Clean the curtains

The curtains can gather up a lot of dust and are frequently overlooked when it comes to cleaning the house. You can either take them to the cleaner or do it yourself – just make sure you read the manufacturer’s instructions first.

5. Give your home a deep clean

When it comes to cleaning, most of us are guilty of missing a few spots so tackle these now. The skirting boards, cupboards and area behind the beds are the most commonly missed areas so do them now. Remember, it will be a long time before you get the chance or muster up the energy to do them again.

6. Do a wardrobe clean out

When Baby arrives you’re going to need as much space as possible for all their stuff, so now is the perfect time to get rid of some of your own stuff! Have a proper clean out of your wardrobe and take what you haven’t worn in six months to a local charity shop.

7. Get on top of the washing

You know that pile of washing that is slowly getting bigger on a daily basis? Well, now is the time to get on top of it once and for all!

8. Do the garden

Depending on whether you have Baby in the summer or winter, they may be out in the garden sooner than you may think, even if it’s just sitting in their buggy. Now is the perfect opportunity to get on top of the weeding, or even finally plant that tree you have been meaning too – it can grow with your baby!

Remember to write down everything that needs to be done so that you can tick if off as you do them. It can be stressful when you feel like you have to get through a number of things before Baby comes along, and a list can help to alleviate some of this pressure.
