Picky eaters cause great anguish for parents who are trying to provide healthy meals for their family.
Try some of these Dos and Don’ts.
5 dos for picky eaters:
- Do lead by example, variety is good.
- Do have a mealtime routine.
- Do serve small portions or let children help themselves.
- Do try and serve different ingredients within a meal (i.e. spaghetti, with sauce on the side, and a salad) so they can eat at least one part of the dinner
- Do introduce new foods one at a time. Try serving them with something he/she already likes.
5 don’ts for picky eaters:
- Don’t let mealtimes be chaotic. If you are calm and organised, they will be more likely to jump in.
- Don’t store any junk food of any description in the house.
- Don’t force feed.
- Don’t punish children for not eating well.
- Don’t get stressed, be consistent.
