You can wait until your 20-week ultrasound scan for the nurse to give you the big reveal, or you can just wait for the big delivery to welcome your son or daughter into the world.

However, if you happen to be particularly impatient, there are some old tricks and tips that can help you identify the gender of your baby. Now, of course these methods are not 100 percent reliable (at all), but people have been guessing the sex of their babies for years using these tips:

1. Morning sickness

If you suffered through terrible nausea and sickness in your first trimester, you are more likely to have a girl than if you had a vomit-free pregnancy - apparently.

2. Food shopping

If you're craving chocolate and ice-cream, you may just be having a girl. However, if pickles and cheese tickle your fancy, a son may be on the cards. Apparently, if you crave sweet things, a girl is far more likely.

3. Heart rate

The next time your doctor listens to your baby's heartbeat, ask for specifics. Allegedly, if the foetal heart rate is more than 140 beats per minute, it's a girl.

4. The key test

Place a key in front of you, and if you pick it up by its top you're going to have a girl. If you naturally pick it up by the narrow end, it's a boy. It is as simple as that.

5. The pee test

Some people will SWEAR to you that your pee colour can tell you what you're having! Bright yellow urine means you're having a boy, and dull yellow urine means a girl.

6. Ring on a string

If you're married, pop off your ring and tie it to a piece of string. Hang it over your stomach, and take note! If the string swings in a circle, you're having a boy, but if it sways back and forth, it's a girl.

7. Palm reading

Are your palms dry and cracked? Some say that means you're having a boy.

8. Your skin

If you find yourself breaking out in spots and acne, you may be having a little girl. According to ancient legend, baby girls steal their mother's beauty - seems legit.

9. Your cup size

If your left breast feels larger than your right, it's a boy. If the right is bigger, you've got a girl. YAY.

10. How you wake up

If you regularly seem to wake up on your left side, it's a girl; and if you find yourself sleeping on your right side more often, it's a boy.

Remember mums, these are not scientific ways of revealing your baby's gender, but they are fun ways to guess!
