Foot pain can be caused by a number of factors including injury or trauma to the foot but also because of a lower back pain. If a nerve in the lower back is compressed for example, this pain can spread along the sciatic nerve and into the foot.
Many lower back conditions may prompt a series of symptoms that produce foot pain, usually associated with leg pain (sciatica). If you have a problem with your lower back, foot pain symptoms may include an inability to bring the foot upwards and a lack of sensation in the middle lower leg and foot.
Some sufferers of foot heaviness, also known as foot drop actually have a problem which originates from a spinal nerve in the lower back. This condition makes it very difficult to flex the ankle and to bring the foot up. This condition is a result of a nerve issue and will usually cause pain running from the calf to the big toe.
If you find it difficult to walk on your tiptoes, or to raise your heel off the ground, you may have pain at the bottom of your foot resulting from your spinal nerve being affected.
If you suffer from foot pain, you should take note of where exactly the pain originates from. Consider whether it is in the toes, the heel, the front or back of your foot. There are number of lower back conditions which might cause foot pain such as Herniated Lumbar Disc, Lumbar Spinal Stenosis and Spondylolisthesis which is when a vertebra slips over the next vertebra in your lower back.
It is very important to get examined by a doctor if you are suffering from foot pain. They will be able to determine the exact cause of the foot pain and recommend correct treatment.
