She kept us waiting quite a long time, but this week it was finally revealed that soap star Emma Atkins is eight months pregnant.

Now the star, who plays Charity in Emmerdale, has spoken out to share her and partner Tom’s “pure excitement” over their amazing news.

In an interview with The Sun, the 39-year-old said: “It couldn’t come at a nicer time. If all goes according to plan then I’ll have my baby just before my 40th birthday – it’ll be such a nice birthday present.”

Opening up on that magical moment when she first found out that she was expecting, Emma revealed: “I was screaming because I was so excited. It was great. My life feels really good at the moment – it’s all fallen into place.”

Emma, who revealed that she will be joining the likes of Catherine Tyldesley in opting for a hypnobirth, also shared her mantra on impending motherhood: “I’ve got loads of love to give and loads of laughter, and I’ll just muddle through the rest.”

She is so excited. We are delighted for her and wish her the best with the rest of her pregnancy.
