Beat those Winter Blues with Netflix

The Christmas festivities are now over, which means it’s time for New Year’s resolutions, re-evaluating our finances and staying in on those long, cold nights. But January doesn’t need to be gloomy…it’ also the perfect time for you and your family to escape with an exciting film, or get stuck into a great new TV show – and Netflix has plenty to choose from!

We want to know what you’ll be watching on Netflix to beat the January blues. Are you enjoying the quirky police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Perhaps you’re catching up on House of Cards in preparation for season 3 in February? Maybe you’ll be indulging in an episode of Breaking Bad?

We’d also like to know what your kids love watching on Netflix. Are the little ones obsessed with Spongebob Squarepants? Do they wind down before bed with a Disney film like Toy Story 3 or Brave? Or maybe your teenager is hooked on Gossip Girl? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear about it!

Tell us how your family will be using Netflix to beat the Winter blues, and be in with a chance to win a Playstation 4 and 1 year Netflix subscription.

Hello, my name is Cara and I am a Netflix Mum Ambassador for MummyPages. I just signed up to the free trial in Netflix. It was really easy to sign-up, I wouldn’t be the hottest on technology but I am big on social media – so it was great to be able to sign-in through Facebook. It was so easy to sign-up, it was pretty much a one click and enter some details – so I was really pleased.

Hello, my name is Gillian and I am a Netflix Mum Ambassador for MummyPages. We know love Netflix in our house. My daughter Amy is fourteen and loves her own space, she loves to lie on her bed in her room and watch different series – so even if Amy wants to watch something in our section, I can go back and check what she has watched – so it is really safe.

Hello, my name is Ciara and I am a Netflix Mum Ambassador for MummyPages. My family loves Netflix, for my little boy, Ben, it is really great that he has his own channel - everything in there is suitable for his age. This means I am never worried, I can leave him with it and don't have to go back and check. I know what he is watching will be child friendly and age appropriate.

Hi my name is Helen and I am a Netflix Mum Ambassador for MummyPages. January is quite a depressing time in our house, and money is always a little bit tighter. It is great that there are such a range of movies for the kids to watch, and we love having a movie night at home over the weekend. x

I am a lucky mammy of 5 little munchkins and with 3 of the kids birthdays in January and mine we have to be very savvy!!! For the twins birthday on the 1st we just had a small family party which involved a cake, the trad New Years dinner and Netflix which was every Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Disney toddler film they could find!!! For My older daughters birthday on the 28th we have decided to have a Cinema night at home with the dreaded sleepover of course there will be popcorn, chocolate crisps etc etc and a night of 5 teenage girls and Netflix which will probably involve hours of the hunger games, the proposal, my baby sitter is a vampire, captain America, etc. it will probably entail a long night with a longer morning doing a clean up!!

A few months ago my husband cancelled our subsription to save a bit for Christmas, my son's birthday was on Christmas Eve and he begged his Dad to restore our Netflix, i did a secret mini fist pump. I have managed to watch episodes of Supernatural, The 100 that i missed and now discovered a new series that is looking good, called The Tomorrow people! and that meant i could leave my son downstairs for his 14th birthday party with his friends and using a Smart bluray player he was able to choose a Netflix movie to put on and watch it on the TV, and it keeps the 6 year old happy when the older child is in school. It was something small we could do for our son's birthday as it fell on Christmas Eve but gave him great pleasure!! and he did ask for a playstation 4 but it didn't happen! so would love to win one but would be so glad with the Netflix subscription! now that ALL Friends are being shown i might just need the year!!

January is quite a busy and hectic time in our lives, back to school/pre school/work and back to all the after school activities so in respect of this our weekends so far have become very laid back and relaxed apart from the Sunday afternoon hike (weather permitting, I don't think we'll be going anywhere this weekend in that weather). Our evenings and weekends so far have been a mix between house of cards (omg) and the Killing (yea!!!) and the kiddies are watching the Hive, Curious George, SpongeBob square pants just to name a few. I expect to carry on with the subscription for another while yet as I definitely am enjoying watching all these series that I wouldn't have seen on the terrestrial TV.

My little fella is obsessed with Cars the movie - so that's pretty much what's helping our house beat the winter blues.

As we were browsing, DH and I happened upon Life on Mars - so we thought we'd give it a go, and it's just brilliant. We're really enjoying it. Kids are obsessed with anything Disney (including Christmas movies!!!)

The big man in red brought my girls Kindles for xmas. They are great because you can limit the times of the 'fun' apps, set bed times etc... Since they went back to school they are only allowed use them for reading during the week but at the weekend we unlock netflix for them and with the kid settings we know whatever they pick will be suitable.
The suggestions are great and mean no more fighting over the remote either :) the younger girl is currently glued to Lego Friends while my older lady is loving being able to watch the same things her mum used to so is working her way through rug rats and the power puff girls.
Netflix has allowed us to cancel our movie subscriptions and still have family movies whenever we want. Last weekend we were going to go to the cinema but decided the roads were too bad so we lit the fire, all snuggled in together and watched a suggested movie for us - The Game Plan, it was great, even Dad was glued ;)
And once the kiddies headed off to bed mum and dad decided to have a Marvel Marathon - Thor, Iron Man and Captain America all featuring... It was a late one, and both girls are early risers so I left the kindles on their lockers the night before and it kept them entertained until I was ready to get up - YAY Netflix means mum and dad don't have to get up at 6am on a Sunday any more!! :)

My lot are Netflix mad!! I don't mind though, especially at this time of year with the weather as it is. They really enjoy selecting a movie at the weekend (even if it's one they've seen a million times before of course!!) Horrid Henry and Toy Story are popular at the minute.
I've been watching Breaking Bad when I get the chance to (and when I can stay awake long enough) - I have the lap top with me in bed, and normally manage at least one episode before I nod off. It's a great series, and at my rate of watching, it'll last me a while.
