5 VERY important things your child-free friend wants you to know

Being a mum is one of the toughest jobs ANY woman will ever have to do. And while a lot of the tasks that we as mums do on a daily basis go unnoticed by our offspring (like how clean clothes just magically appear in their wardrobe), it doesn't go by everyone unseen - well, not me anyway.

I may not be a mum, or have firsthand experience of the frustrations of dealing with a temper tantrum in public, but I am a big sister and aunty by association and I do have five VERY important things I would like to tell you:

1. You don’t look like crap
You now have a little person to look after so stop expecting to keep your Kim K looks - no one expects that of you so you shouldn’t. You are gorgeous, even when you have a little trail of dribble along the shoulder of your jacket…

2. Our pets are like our babies
We know our animals do NOT require the same amount of attention or responsibility as your children, but we refuse to stop calling them our babies or moaning when we have to clean their poop. We resent it when you point out each time that your children are more important, it’s not that we don’t love your kids, we do we just think that our pets are just as cute despite what how you feel on the matter!

3. We really don't need to hear all about The Poop.
While your kids are truly adorable and we understand that even their poop leaves you in awe we don't think the same! Think about it: do you care about any other child’s bathroom habits apart from your own? No? We didn’t think so. So while we want to hear how they mortified you in Dunnes when they loudly announced your breakage of wind, we don't need to know the colour or consistency of their poop.

4. Stop scaring us!
If you want us to have babies and be a mammy just like you, you need to stop with the horrifying birth stories, tales of no sleep, no money and a sexless life. Or at least throw in why it’s all worth it once in a while!

5. We look up to you in awe
We admire how you can do a full day of work before must of us have even turned our alarms to snooze. While we slumber you have the kids up, the breakfast made, lunches packed and then have to find the strength to dress your little ones despite the fact they refuse to leave their socks and shoes on!

Mums, I salute you!
