British woman gives birth in the middle of the street

A pregnant woman, who had her taxi taken by another person, was left to give birth to her baby girl on the streets on New York.
The unexpected delivery happened when Polly McCourt, 39, realised her baby was coming out too fast, so she left her apartment on East 68th Street and Third Avenue and searched desperately for a taxi.
Since her baby’s head was already showing, she has no choice but to give birth on the pavement.
With the help of friendly strangers, who gave their scarves and coats to Mrs McCourt’s new daughter, the street delivery was a success as she gave birth to a healthy 7lb girl.
Unfortunately, her husband Cian McCourt wasn’t there for the delivery, but he did arrive shortly after the birth of their healthy daughter. The scene was also recorded by passing news crew as well as social media lovers.
The couple named their daughter Ila Isabelle, after one of the helpful strangers who witnessed the scene. She offered her coat to Mrs McCourt and was extremely generous during the delivery. A few minutes after birth, both Polly and her newborn were taken to Lenox Hill hospital in an ambulance. Thankfully, they are both doing great.

The kind hearted stranger, Isabel Williams who helped Polly McCourt as she gave birth on a New York street was shocked and delighted to hear that the thankful parents have named their daughter Ila Isabelle in her honour. Commenting, Isabel said “That’s the sweetest thing I ever heard.”
Isabel handed over her coat to Polly during the ordeal, when dad Cian McCourt arrived, he thanked her and took her mobile number, but lost it in all the madness. The family would like to thank Isabel in person, and she seems to be up for it too, saying
'They are so welcome, anytime' she said, 'And if they ever need a babysitter'
