I'm writing this blog because I want to know is everyone as confused about what milk is nest to give their toddler. I have been searching on the internet and have found mixed reports about all milk products. My son has just turned 1 and I want to switch him from formula. he was on SMA 2 until he was 12 months and now I have starting trying to change him to something else. I have heard that formula branded as Toddler milk has an awful lot of sugar in it and is of no benefit to the toddler so I dont really want to give that.
I tried him with full fat fresh milk which he totally turned his nose up at so I have been mixing it with his regular formula to get him used to it but he still turns his nose up most of the time. It was suggested that I add a teaspoon of sugar but I dont really want to give him any extra sugar. Some people are totally against cow's milk and I can't really figure out why.
I then tried rice milk and again he isn't mad about it but will drink a bottle in the morning for me he just won't take and evening bottle. I then read that rice milk may contain arsenic qualities and therefore should not be the main source of milk in young children, also it doesn't contain as much protein as regular cows milk.
Next I was thinking of trying was soya milk but I have read that the hormones levels in soya milk is really bad fir young children.
There is also almond milk but I dont think it has as many nutrients or vitamins as cows milk.
I must add that my son loves all cheeses and eats yogurts.
Any advice would be appreciated its all very confusing. I must add that he only gets milk morning and night and all his meals are made with regular milk where needed.
