Our shopping adventures this week I took my younger two daughters aged 10 and 12 respectively. I knew I would have to keep a watchful eye as there was a strong possibility of my trolley filling up with goodies.

There was lots happening in our local Lidl this weekend with family fun and bargains to be had. The shop was very busy although we had waited to avoid the madness of the Family Day.

With the weather heating up, the family summer grazing had begun. Our trolley filled up with fresh fruit and veg, ingredients for pizza, stir fries and fajitas - all typical summer eating in our house.

With the distraction of my girls, I actually had to go around the shop twice as they had my concentration frazzled. I could not believe my eyes while I surveyed the shelves, something I could only describe as a warm, fuzzy childhood treat - Golden Sun Pudding Rice.  I popped it in my trolley picked up some extra milk and was determined to give my own family a treat.

As it cooked away on the hob, the kids looked on at this white glob simmering away. I served it up with a dollop of Kilderg Autumn fruit jam and very quickly the pot disappeared.

We tried some Lidl cereals this weeks and I could not believe the savings in price compared to main brands.  The kids tried and tested with no complaints and even asked for more next week.

We made some delicious homemade pizzas with a variety of toppings, everyone was able to make their own. Perfect for a warm summer evening when nobody was much in the eating mood.

I was very lucky to avail of a voucher this week (spend €50 and get €10) which ultimately brought the end figure down again this week. This led to a few extra treats thrown in to keep some young people happy.
