This week I headed off to the shops alone during school time.  Eager with anticipation - could I feed a hungry house of 8 again this week?

As the trolley filled fast and furious I was amazed how quickly I had become accustomed to shopping in Lidl. This week I was not seeking out items but quite literally the items were presenting themselves and jumping into my trolley.

This week I bought an array of ingredients to bake with and I couldn't believe the savings to be made on flour, icing sugar and ground almonds compared to branded items in other supermarkets.

Tea bags were on my list this week and, with my husband being a connoisseur of a tea drinker, I was hoping he wouldn't notice the difference when I popped a box of Fallons Gold Blend teabags in. We've been using the teabags for a couple of days now and hasn't mentioned a thing.  Result!

I did try a number of new items this week with my fussy household.  I tested a Chicken curry with Kanpur Garden Mild Curry Cooking Sauce teamed up with Golden Sun Long Grain Rice - this proved to be very popular with the family and got a definite thumbs up.  Much to my delight, it only took minutes to prepare.

I also indulged in some fresh fish Inismara Cod Fillets with pepper and wild garlic, it was as good as any fish you would buy from a fresh fish counter with lots of euros to be saved. Again I teamed the fish up with lovely Green Grocer Garden Peas - these were sweet and yummy and some Oaklands Baby Potatoes.  Another no fuss dinner with a family seal of approval.

In seeing the variety available in Lidl over the past couple of weeks, it would be very difficult to run out of choice, I have so much more I wish to try.

Another example of good quality delicious food was the Braemore Chicken Chunks at €2.99 they were superb value and restaurant quality, demolished in seconds at a mid-afternoon snack by my teenagers.  On Sunday we cooked brunch - the premium sausages were amazing and the Connell Farm Free Range Eggs had yolks so rich in colour and tasted divine.

But I have to say my buy of the week was Cien Shower Cream. It was €1.50 or 2 for €2. I invested in Sweet Summer and Sparkling Sunrise. I guard and hide my expensive shower foam from the department store but it's always found and always empty to my dismay. I decided to give this a try, it was left in the shower and the comments were "Mum, where did you get this stuff it smells a bit like custard and it's gorgeous".  So it definitely gets a 10 out of 10 from my gang.

After trying and testing for the past couple of weeks, Lidl is definitely on the top of my supermarket list and I can assure you once you've tried and tested you won't be going anywhere else!
