I completed this week’s shop on Saturday afternoon. Again the shop was quite quiet but that might have been due the nice weather we were having.  It was easier this week as I had fairly good idea of the layout of the shop and, as I tend to buy the same items each week I was able to identify most of what I needed immediately.

Some of the bargains I got this week were an extra-large chicken for €5.49 which would easily feed my family of four and leave plenty of leftovers to use for lunches during the week. I picked up some orange with chocolate sprinkle yoghurts to try and to my delight they are just as good as our regular branded yoghurts but nearly half the price at only 49 cent each, so will be stocking up with those next week.  I stocked up on more cereals this week as the ones we tried last week were a total hit and so much cheaper than the branded equivalents.  Again all of my fresh veg, fruit, meat etc. was overall much cheaper than my usual supermarket.

All the veg is cheaper than my normal supermarket, as were the tins of mixed beans – I would normally pay over a €1 each per tin in my normal supermarket but in Lidl these cost 62c each.

I spent some time wandering up and down the middles aisle to see what I could find and to be fair it’s a veritable treasure trove of goodies. There is quite literally something for everyone – from riding boots to clothes to electrical goods to homewares to kid’s toys, there is a little of everything. On this occasion I settled for a couple of Suduko books for my children which I have put aside to bring with us on our family holiday in July.

I reckon this shop would have cost me at least €160, if not more, in my normal supermarket. I had a full trolley and it only cost me €118.90.

Having spent a week now cooking and using my Lidl products I can honestly say that there is no difference in the quality of the Lidl products compared to my usual brands.
