Low Egg Reserve

I am 40 years old and have been trying to get pregnant for the past year & a half. I have had three previous successful births. I have recently visited my gynae who did blood tests on me. My results have come back to say that I am ovulating and the readings are good. He has put me on a three month course of clomid which I am due to start this month. My husband was also tested to see what his sperm count was and they are normal.

Today I got a call from the gynae to say that a further test has come back with results that I have a low egg reserve. I wonder is there any point in me even going through the course of clomid are am I just too old.
