Potty Training - Is it harder for us or them?

After spending the last week potty training my son, I’ve started to wonder who is potty training harder for, is it the child or the parents? Of course it’s hard for the child, after all they have only ever known nappies, but as I’ve witnessed here this week once it clicks into place and they get it
they really fly at it and gain more confidence every time they successfully go
but what about the parents?

For parents it’s a whole new routine to daily life. Where once changing bags where filled with nappies they are now filled with pants and spare clothes, planning trips out especially in the first few weeks takes on a whole new level of organisation, how long will the car journey be?, where will they go when they need to go?, will I bring a potty or training seat? etc. but as I’m sure most parents can relate to I think potty training your child also takes you on an unexpected emotional roller-coaster.
Naturally before you begin there is the feeling of dread. You dread going through all these new changes but at the same time you are dreading that now potty training has begun, that the little baby that only yesterday you brought home from hospital is now officially turning into a big boy or girl. Seeing them waltz around the place in their little pants really makes you stop and think, where has the time gone? And more importantly where is the pause button?
It’s ironic really as of course all you want and all you’ve ever wanted for your baby is grow into a happy and independent child but yet now they have taken their first step to becoming truly independent you find yourself wondering how has this happened? You know that they can’t stay in nappies for the rest of their life, but I wonder is there something about this particular milestone that pulls more on your heart strings more than others?
