Cakes Online Dublin is Ireland’s first web-based bakery, producing sweet treats since 2002. Based in Tallaght, they specialise in cakes for birthdays, christenings and wedding showers and also make cupcakes and mini desserts.

We were lucky enough to try two of Cakes Online’s speciality birthday cakes, both of which were personalised with the MummyPages logo and looked incredibly tempting.

First up was the Fresh Cream & Sponge Cake. This was decorated with fresh fruit on top of a thick layer of cream. The sponge was light and moist, making this suitable for people who aren’t keen on heavy desserts.

Next came Death by Chocolate Cake, which more than lived up to its name. There was definitely a lot of chocolate between the ganache, sponge and glaze, and naps were needed after tucking into a slice. It was rich, the sponge was moist and overall it was a very indulgent experience. We’d recommend this for anyone trying to get the most for their money as you could get away with giving party guests smaller portions and still leave them feeling full and satisfied.

Cakes can be ordered from www.cakesonline.ie or by calling 01 4629120. There’s also an option for next-day delivery.
