I understand why you just want to sit and look at their sleeping faces.

I understand why you have no embarrassment breaking into 'the wheels on the bus' in public.

I understand your new early bedtime and why one glass of wine is now enough, even though we used to drink a bottle each.

I understand why you no longer use that expensive moisturiser we used to swear by. That much money can buy a lot of nappies.

I understand why, even though you are at home all day, you don't get a chance to start dinner or stack the dishwasher.

I understand the all-consuming love.
