Although many young girls associate Irish dancing with getting dolled up, it looks like this is to become a thing of the past.

From the March 1st, 2014, girls under the age of 10 will not be able to wear make-up during an Irish dance competition.

This ban is being brought by the Irish Dancing Commission, who has also decided not to allow false lashes for this age group.

This could be good news for a lot of mums out there, since the majority always knew having their daughters caked with fake tan and make-up was never a good thing.

The ban will also get rid of ‘artificial carriage aids’ on the arms of young dancers as it will make it easier for them to keep their hands straight while dancing.

Saying bye to make-up and artificial carriage aids can only better your little girl’s health and for those who enjoy the pantomime of these competitions, wigs will still be allowed for under-10s.
