When our sick little ones go through suffering, we will do absolutely anything to put a smile on their faces – and often it is the simplest or most ordinary things that can do so. This was proven this week, when five-year-old Euan Leslie’s ultimate wish was granted with a day spent on-site as a builder.
Little Euan suffers with leukaemia, and his mum eagerly wanted to do something special for him after daily chemotherapy sessions and 12-weekly spinal injections.
A budding builder, Euan was delighted when he received the toy cement mixer he so wanted for his birthday in October, but his aunt decided to get in contact with a local radio station to see if any kind-hearted listeners could give him a unique and very special gift that money couldn't buy.
According to The Daily Record, Euan was inundated with offers, and there was one that stood out: an invitation to join the Jewson builders merchants for a day on-site as a real builder!
Hard hat and safety gear on, little Euan enjoyed a tractor drive around the site and got to lend a hand with a whole range of exciting jobs.
Commenting on how special the experience was for her son, mum Monika told local media: “Euan is a little soldier who has been through so much but he doesn’t let it keep him down… He has been through such a horrific time so it’s great to see him enjoying something special.”
What a beautiful story. We’re sending lots of love to Euan and his family. If you would like to donate to his charity page, check it out through this link.
