A wealth of moving and tragic stories have hit the headlines since last weekend’s Paris attacks, and the latest one is touching hearts all over the world today.

Tributes have poured in for courageous Elsa Delplace, a 35-year-old mother who sacrificed her life to save her five-year-old son during the shootings at the Bataclan theatre.

According to reports, brave Elsa threw herself over son Louis as Isis gunmen began their tirade, with emergency services later discovering the little boy miraculously alive. Elsa’s 61-year-old mother, Patricia San Martin, also lost her life in the tragedy.

It was Sihem Souid, a close friend of Elsa, who shared the remarkable story with the world this week.

Souid told French magazine Le Point: “[Elsa’s] son Louis, her ray of sunshine, was with her. Louis was found in Vincennes hospital, distraught and covered in his mother’s blood from when she tried to protect him from the bullets.”

Paying tribute to Elsa and her amazing spirit and talents, she added: “Elsa was a joyous person who always had a smile on her lips, even at difficult times. She was involved in the worlds of volunteering, culture and art. She played the cello brilliantly.”

Little Louis is in our thoughts today, and we pray that he will receive the support he so badly needs after such a horrific loss.
