It is a case that has left many people shocked this week, and there was major interest in the outcome after we reported on it yesterday; now, however, we can reveal that the court has come to a decision in the case of the aunt suing her 12-year-old nephew for damages.

According to reports today, the Connecticut Superior Court has ruled against Jennifer Connell, stating that she does not deserve a pay-out from her nephew over her broken wrist.

The case dates back to 2011, when young Sean Tarala was enjoying his eighth birthday party. Connell claims that she suffered a broken wrist after Sean came flying into her arms to welcome her to his party.

Commenting on how the incident impacted upon her life, Connell told the court yesterday: “I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up, so it has been very difficult…I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvres plate.”

With young Sean facing into a $127,000 lawsuit, the court found in his favour, putting the incident down to “youthful exuberance”.

“We just didn’t think the boy was negligent,” a juror told reporters following the decision.
