Yesterday, we reported on the story of Louis Diamond, a three-year-old boy who was devastated to learn his favourite Manchester United footballer, Robin Van Persie, had transferred to Turkish team, Fenerbahce.

While Louis' heartbreaking reaction to the news did go viral, it's fair to say his father, Sam, did not anticipate the public's response to the family's short clip.

However, it seems the devastation captured on the little boy's face was enough to pull at the heartstrings of equally dedicated football fans in Turkey.

As a gesture of goodwill to the lovely Louis, a Turkish hotelier, Ragip Ula, offered the Diamond family a complimentary stay in his hotel in order for Louis to see his beloved Robin play for his newest club.

Having learned that the Diamond family are not currently in a position to pay for flights, Ragip established a fundraising page for the family and has been overjoyed to see donations roll in in honour of Louis and his family.

Explaining the motivation behind his gesture, Ragip wrote: "If you really love something, you start crying the moment you get close to losing it. As a child, you haven’t quite grasped the workings of the world yet so it’s even harder."

Urging the public to get involved with the endeavour, Ragip went on to say: "I have a small boutique hotel in Galata, Istanbul. I will take on the family’s accommodation, transfer and other costs, I just need the family to pay for their London-Istanbul flights. Unfortunately the family expressed that they couldn’t do that, and I can’t afford that either. If you want, and if you can, I say let’s buy the ticket together."

Overcome by the outpouring of support, Louis' father said: "We could never have expected the level of generosity from our friends in Turkey. We’re flattered by the attention."

In addition to Ragip's generous gesture and the public's donations, it is understood that the Turkish club have also offered the family VIP treatment upon their arrival.

Overwhelmed, Sam said: "Going to Turkey would be a dream come true and seeing van Persie play for Fenerbahce would be amazing."

We can't wait to see footage of a happy smiling Louis!
