There was outcry when it emerged that a two-year-old boy had been snatched by an alligator while paddling at a Disney resort earlier this week, and Disney World is reportedly taking steps to ensure a similar tragedy never befalls another family.

The Mirror reports today that staff at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Orlando, Florida – where Lane Graves was attacked and drowned by an alligator – has erected a fence around the edge of the lagoon where the tragedy occurred.

It was previously claimed that while there was a ‘No Swimming’ sign in the area, there were no danger warnings regarding the creatures; management at the resort are also said to be remedying this in the wake of the harrowing incident.

Little Lane was paddling in the water on Tuesday when he was attacked. His body was discovered in the water 17 hours later, following a wide-scale and frantic search.

Speaking of their harrowing loss, parents Matt and Melissa Graves said: “Words cannot describe the shock and grief our family is experiencing over the loss of our son. We are devastated and ask for privacy during this extremely difficult time.”

Let’s hope these safety measures are enough to prevent any other family going through what the Graves have endured.
