A man is auctioning off his son’s future football team allegiance in aid of charity.

Ian Charters has pledged to make either a Manchester City or United fan of his seven-month-old son, Eddie, with the team to be decided upon by the highest bidder on eBay.

Little Eddie was born premature, and all proceeds from dad Ian’s auction will go to Bliss – a charity that supports premature and sick babies.

In his posting on eBay, Ian writes: “I live in Greater Manchester, but originally come from down south, so I have no affiliation with either of the Manchester Clubs.”

He continues: “I’ll be fighting a losing battle trying to get my son to support my team [Watford]. Frankly, I wouldn’t want to inflict that on the poor child anyway.”

The 30-year-old has promised to purchase a replica kit and curtains in the team’s colours for little Eddie, once the winning bid has been cast.

It’s certainly a novel way of raising money for a worthy cause!

Well done to Ian – we’ll be looking forward to seeing which team wins another fan in Eddie.
